Mike Hussey Inducted into Australian Cricket Hall of Fame

Former Australian cricketer Mike Hussey has been inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame on Boxing Day. Hussey, who is known as "Mr Cricket," was moved by the induction and noted that the heroes of his childhood were all elevated before him. He had posters of them on his wall as a kid growing up in Perth's northern suburbs. Allan Border even inspired him to bat left-handed. Fellow Hall of Fame member Adam Gilchrist, who was a long-time teammate of Hussey, said that it is not something that you set out to achieve, but it is a really wonderful feeling to know that that is the esteem with which you are held.

Hussey's work ethic was never in question, nor his obsession with the game, as signified by the nickname ‘Mr Cricket’, which was issued to him by Andrew Flintoff during a County game. However, his determination almost ended his Australian ambitions in his 20s as he struggled for form, due in part to the amount of pressure he was placing on himself. For a period, Hussey fell out of the state team. On reconciling that a career with WA was still something to cherish, he flourished.

In conclusion, Mike Hussey's induction into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport. His journey was not an easy one, but his determination and love for the game helped him overcome the challenges he faced.
